Vision
The Trust has developed a vision regarding food and drink. All Trust services relating to food and drink, the supporting education and promotional activities are measured against this.
The Trust is committed to:
- Creating a retail environment to encourage staff and visitors to select healthier food items by either choice or awareness.
- Increasing interaction between patients to increase; motivation, morale, aid to healing and improved nutrition, keeping patients mobile and improved overall dining experience.
- Support the patients at meal times by encouraging them to eat their meals and enjoy a cup of tea and a chat with a volunteer for company.
- Minimising the food waste and reducing single use plastic.
Strategy
South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust’s Food and Drink Strategy covering nutritional care, healthy eating and sustainable food provision has been developed using the recommendations of the Hospital Food Standards Panel 2014. This referenced five required national standards that must be met:

- NHS England: 10 Key Characteristics of Good Nutritional Care
- Public Health England: Healthier and More Sustainable Catering: Nutrition Principles
