Bereavement & Support

We understand what a difficult time it is when a close relative dies. Our bereavement service offers practical advice and support about what needs to be done after a death, and can provide you with guidance.

If your relative died at Warwick Hospital, the Bereavement Officer will call you the next working day to advise you of the next steps and answer any questions you may have.

It is worth noting that before the cause of death can be issued a medical examiner is required to review the case before the medical certificate of cause of death is issued to the Registration Service. The team will pass your details on and the Registrar’s Office will contact you to arrange an appointment for you to register the death.

For further details visit Warwickshire County Council's website.

For more support information read the Trust's Information and Advice for Bereaved Families and Friends leaflet.

Visiting your relative after death

Saying goodbye to the one you love is important. If you are not present at the time of death there will be time allowed for you to visit your loved one on the ward. However, this is limited and if you are unable to visit straight away you may arrange a time to visit in the Bereavement Suite.

Please discuss this with the Bereavement Officer when they call or you may contact them on 01926 495321 ext 8131.

Contact the Bereavement Officer on tel: +44(0)1926 495321 Ext 8131

If the Bereavement Officer is not available to answer the phone, please leave a message with a contact name and number and they will return your call as soon as possible.
