We are a team of experienced psychological practitioners, including Clinical Psychologists, trainee Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, Psychological therapists, Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Cognitive behavioural therapists offering a range of evidence based psychological therapies. We support patients with a wide range of physical health difficulties that are impacting on their emotional wellbeing and functioning. We provide specialised services to outpatients, the community, some inpatient areas, and also offer staff support and consultation.
Note: We are not an emergency mental health service and cannot respond to urgent needs outside of office hours. If you are in need of urgent psychological support you will need to contact your GP or mental health matters 0800 616171, or mental health access hub 08081 966798.
Some of the emotional, psychological, and health problems that we can help you manage include:
- adjustment to an illness or lifelong conditions such as cancer, cardiac issues, stroke, long COVID, gastro-intestinal disorders, diabetes, chronic pain etc.
- coping with uncertainty and change due to illness
- feelings of depression or anxiety related to a health condition
- anxiety about medical or surgical intervention e.g. needle phobia, operations/interventions, medications
- women's health including maternity, e.g. traumatic delivery, medically complicated pregnancy, pelvic pain
- post-traumatic stress disorder related to a medical condition or treatment
You can be referred to our service by your South Warwickshire GP or a member of your SWFT healthcare team such as consultant, nurse or physio. Once we receive your referral we will discuss it as a team and if appropriate will make direct contact with you. Most of our services do have a waiting list and referrals will be prioritised according to clinical need.
An appointment normally lasts about 50 minutes. You may have more than one, depending on your need, and it is important that you can commit to attending them regularly. During your first appointment an assessment is carried out and the course of therapy appropriate for you is discussed.
