Safe, effective solutions for relief and improved appearance of varicose veins in Warwickshire

Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins commonly found in the legs, causing discomfort and aesthetic concerns. Several effective treatments are available to alleviate symptoms and improve appearance.

Radiofrequency Ablation (VNUS Closure)

This minimally invasive procedure is highly effective for treating large varicose veins on a day-case basis, typically requiring about three hours from admission to discharge. Under local anesthesia, a catheter is inserted into the affected vein, which is then sealed from the inside using gentle heat generated by microwaves.

Foam Sclerotherapy

Ideal for varicose veins that appear in clusters or have recurred after previous treatments, this outpatient procedure is performed under local anesthesia. After numbing the skin, a needle is inserted into the varicose vein under ultrasound guidance, and a foam solution is injected. This causes the vein to become sticky and gradually shrink over several weeks.

Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT)

Similar in technique to radiofrequency ablation, EVLT uses laser energy to close the vein. Although it operates at a higher temperature, it is no more effective than VNUS Closure. Additionally, EVLT requires greater protection during the procedure and is associated with increased post-procedure pain and bruising. Due to these factors, radiofrequency ablation is often preferred.

Surgical Treatment

For patients with particularly large or extensive varicose veins, surgery may be recommended. This highly effective treatment is performed under general anesthesia, generally as a day-case procedure.
