You think you're in labour or your waters might have broken

Labour is different for everyone but commonly starts with contractions or your waters breaking. You may have discussed signs of labour with your midwife or at antenatal classes and when to call the hospital towards the end of your pregnancy. Wherever you’re planning to birth, when you call, we will chat to you and find out how you and your baby are feeling and between us work out if you need to be seen soon or a bit later. We are always available for advice and a chat to help you in the early stages of labour too.

This is common during or shortly before the start of labour. Some women and birthing people will find it obvious when the waters have broken, and some will be less sure.

If the fluid is clear or straw-coloured, then please call the place where you are intending to give birth for advice.

If the fluid is green in colour, then please call MAS on 01926 495321 ext 8408.
